Outrage as 'Jay Jay Okocha' Stabs SS2 Student to Death in Broad Daylight in Kano City (Photo)

Rabiu Dan Maraya, a 23-year old SSS2 student, was on Saturday afternoon stabbed to death by a mobster, following his refusal to surrender cash in his possession to the assailant in the commercial city of Kano.

According to The Punch, the victim, a student of Mohammed Vice Adamu Secondary School, Fagge, Kano, was on his way home from school when he was accosted by the mobster who allegedly ordered Rabiu to surrender whatever money was in his possession.

Rabiu had refused the order, it was alleged.

Enraged by Rabiu’s refusal, an eye witness alleged, the assailant, simply identified as Jay Jay Okocha who was in company of a friend, trailed Rabiu to a corner, where he stabbed him thrice in different spots at the back.

Rabiu had bled profusely and slumped, following which passers-by rushed him to a nearby hospital but died on the way.

Authorities of the Medical Centre, where he was rushed for treatment, pronounced him dead before arrival.

Immediately after, some policemen arrived the scene of the crime, where they arrested the suspect and took him to Fagge Police Division, where he was briefly detained.

However, it was learnt that he has been charged to court for prosecution.

When our reporter contacted Rabiu’s guardian, identified as Samaila Gambo Fagge, he said the late Rabiu had been living with him for a long time since his mother died a few years ago.

Samaila said, “I was shocked and devastated when the sad news was broken to me;” insisting that he would pursue the matter to logical conclusion to ensure fair justice over the cold murder of his nephew.

Meanwhile, the victim’s remains is still in the mortuary awaiting the conclusion of investigations and prosecution.

When contacted, the Kano State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Magaji Musa Majiya, who confirmed the incident, disclosed that investigations have commenced into the case, assuring that justice will be done.
