According to Omoyele Sowore, the owner of Sahara Reporters
Folks: I was at the convocation of the University of Lagos today to witness the graduation ceremony of one our top citizen journalists. Towards the end of the gathering, a University of Lagos student activist, Olorunfemi Adeyeye, tried to protest his rustication by the University. He was immediately tackled and roughly handled, I protested the treatment meted to the young activist but was also tackled by a combined team of security agents. Our cameraman who tried recording the scene was viciously attacked by a police officer who dragged him and Femi Adeyeye on the floor all the way to the UNILAG Security Post.
Shortly after we arrived to get him released, we were told that the Lagos Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni had ordered them brought before him, bloodied, they were driven by a team of police vehicles to an unknown destination and we are yet to have any contact with them as I write this update.
This is the second time in a week that the Nigeria police would attack my crew and I in Lagos.
