Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger has confirmed that German defender Per Mertesacker has penned a one-year contract extension with the club.
The World Cup-winning central defender has not played for the Gunners this season due to injury but has extended his stay at the club till June 2018

He joins Olivier Giroud, Laurent Koscielny and Francis Coquelin who recently extended the contract at the club
Wenger revealed, “It’s an option we’ve taken on Per Mertesacker. He’s back in training, not with the squad, but he’s maybe two weeks away now.
“We have a number of games and it’s important to have our experienced players back.”
