COURT SUSPENDS SECRET TRIAL OF NNAMDI KANU AS IPOB LEADER MAKES CASE FOR UNCONDITIONAL RELEASE
The Federal High Court presided by Justice Binta Nyako has suspended the secret trial of IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu and co-defendants till further notice following a prima facie suit filed by the defendants against the Nigerian government challenging the veracity of the charges leveled against them, which is currently being entertained by the court.
Hon Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor, the lead counsel of the defendants after his introduction, told the court that the accusations leveled on his clients lacks merit and basic proof. According to Hon Ejiofor, “Nnamdi Kanu(the first defendant) is only exercising his right to self determination.” He also noted that that the defendants started their agitations even before the emergence of Muhammadu Buhari as the president of Nigeria; hence do not pose any the threat to the incumbent Buhari’s government… More updates coming shortly
