IPOB has not clashed with any other group in Nigeria – He called on the DSS to desist from demonizing the IPOB Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu A brother to the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu has called on the Department of State Services to desist from branding Biafra agitators as terrorists. Prince Kanu told NAIJ.com that the statement the DSS is aimed at demonizing the IPOB. Prince said: “I want the world to understand that the DSS have embarked on an operation to demonize the Biafra Independent organizations, and to label the IPOB a terrorist group, by accusing IPOB of killing and kidnapping some Fulani herdsmen; it is very pathetic.” On Saturday, April, 9, the DSS in a statement said it has uncovered roles played by members of the IPOB in the abduction of five Hausa-Fulani residents at Isuikwuato local government area of Abia state. The DSS said the victims were suspected to have been killed by their abductors and buried in shallow graves close to 50 other shallow graves of unidentified persons. The agency claimed that the investigations conducted shows that elements within the IPOB carried out the abductions and killings in the southeast.

Prince said the IPOB does not involve itself with any form of abduction or killings. He said the IPOB is a group strictly focused on self-determination, which the group is aimed at achieving. “Whatever reason they have behind it I cannot tell, but I can make it clear to you that IPOB is not a terrorist group; we are not a violent group; whatever we do today boils down to self-determination, we have no problem with any group in Nigeria as it today,” Prince said. Stating that his brother has done nothing wrong, Prince also called on the DSS to engage in finding better reasons to jail Kanu rather than misleading the world. “So if they are shopping for excuses or reasons to keep Nnamdi Kanu in detention, they had better bring a good one, if you look at the whole thing, if we had wanted to be violent, we would have done so in the beginning not now,” he said. Prince said the IPOB as a group has never been violent and has no intention of becoming violent. Prince added: “Nnamdi Kanu has done nothing wrong, there is no need to be violent, and there is no point to be violent.”
