RECESSION: Don’t Despair, Cleric Counsels Nigerians

PASTOR of Ajayi Dahunsi Memorial Baptist Church, Lagos, Rev. ‘Sola Idowu has encouraged Nigerians to be resolute and not give room for distraught in the face of current economic challenges, saying that God is still in the process of reviving Nigeria, reports OLAYINKA LATONA

Speaking at the church’s 50th anniversary, Rev. Idowu urged the Nigerian masses to be steadfast and focus their attention on God for all their needs who only has the power to bail the nation out of the current depression.

“Economists have proposed all kinds of theories which have not worked, so we must keep on praying and be hopeful that God will continue to stir the ship of our nation, and guide our leaders. We must also keep in mind that our leaders are human beings who are limited and can only act on what they know and the strength that they have,” the cleric stated.

“God is able and faithful and He is able to bring us out of the situation. This is a country with many religious people and this is the time we have to rally round our faith and hold on to God, it is a time to really showcase the God we have been talking about all this while,” he said.

On the church anniversary, Rev Idowu thanked God for His faithfulness towards the church in the last 50 years, adding that the church will continue to expand through its core values of corporate social responsibilities and evangelism.
