The circumstances surrounding Udoh’s death, who passed on yesterday during a protracted illness, were still sketchy as at press time but in the condolence message to the family, Igbuya described the late lawmaker as a dogged fighter, grassroots woman and leader.
He said: “It is really hard to believe. It is just so sad. I wish to convey to you the deepest condolence of the Delta Sate House of Assembly.”Meanwhile, a High Court sitting in Port Harcourt yesterday ordered the speaker of Rivers State House of Assembly, Adams Dabotorudima, to swear in the only All Progressives Congress (APC) female member of the legislature, Victoria Nyeche.
Justice Adolphus Enebeli ruled that it was wrong for the Assembly to have shut out for 17 months even after being affirmed winner of April 2015 legislative election by the Court of Appeal.
Relying on Section 484 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Rivers State and Section 107 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), the judge held that it was only a competent court that could disqualify her swearing in.
