A high court sitting in Effurun, Delta State, has dissolved a 13-year-old marriage over sex deprivation and lack of attention.
42-year-old Mrs. Obruche Peter approached the court seeking dissolution of her marriage to Mr. Okpokpo Peter, 52 on the ground of sexual deprivation and “making her feel inferior.”
She said, “My husband got back from a trip (from Calabar) for weeks and still refused to sleep with me, something he had never done since we got married.
“When my husband refused he told me that he was tired and not in the mood. Since then he has stopped making love to me.”
The woman added that her husband became quarrelsome and complained about her friends before he sent her out of her matrimonial home.
“I am tired of the marriage, I have reported him to his family countless times but he refused to change.
“Since he left home, I have been the one feeding the children and (paying) their school fees,” urging the court to dissolve the marriage and grant her custody of their two children – Ejiro (14) and Egwono (13).
