NDLEA arrests cook with N14bn drug at Lagos Airport

Operatives of the national Drug Law Enforcement Agebcy (NDLEA) at the Murtala Muhammed Internationa Airport (MMIA), Lagos yester intercepted methamphetarine worth 14 billion naira. The seized drug weighing 45kg was found concealed inside foodstuff meant for export to South Africa.The discovery was made during the outward screening of a Kenyan Airways flight where 48 yrs old cook was arrested in connection with the illegal shipment.

The suspect, Richard Efetobore Ese, hails from Dalta State, said he had worked for a decade in Madrid, Spain.
He confessed that he was given one million naira to smuggle the drug to south Africa.
In his words: “I was given one million naira to smuggle the drug to Soth Africa. I was told the bag contained Africa food, but during search, NDLEA officers discovered methamphetamine weighing 45 kilogrammes, I worked in Madrid for ten years as a chef and I am married with four children. The man that gave me the job met me in a club”.
The NDLEA commander at the Lagos airport, Ahmed Garba, said the suspect apprehended in connection with seized methamphatamine would be charged to court soon.
