There was pandemonium yesterday in Abia state, precisely in Mgboko Obete community, Obingwa local government area when supporters of the APC clashed with that of PDPvllkyt236o78jgjqrg-f3b8761d

Report suggests that the crisis started after some PDP thugs allegedly destroyed posters of APC and attacked residents believed to be supporters of the party.

An eye witness disclosed that the hoodlums said to be supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party, stormed the community to campaign but instead, decided to destroy posters belonging to the All Progressives Congress.

Speaking to newsmen after the incident, Chinonso Friday, a candidate of APC in the local government, said the hoodlums were working for PDP because they damaged all posters belonging to him and even went ahead to attack members of the community who tried stopping them.

He said: “The PDP came to destroy our campaign posters and when we tried to stop them, they attacked us with weapons.

“Presently, at least 20 people are in the hospitals receiving treatment. It could have been worse if I did not stop my party supporters from fighting back. The case has been reported at the police.”

However, Nta Ogbonnaya, police public relation officer in Abia state, has disclosed that he has no knowledge about the crisis.

The Abia local government election will hold on Saturday, December 17.
