Cameroon women coach, Enow Ngachu says his side is capable of beating Nigeria to clinch their first ever African Women’s Cup of Nations title at the Ahmaduo Ahidjo Stadium today.
A year ago, the Indomitable Lionesses defeated the African queens Super Falcons 2-1 in the All African Games semi-final before settling for silver after Ghana defeat in Congo Brazzaville.
This time around, Ngachu’s ladies are hoping for their first ever title triumph against Nigeria to banish the disappointing memories of losing all three previous meetings in the final.
“This is not the place to reveal my strategy. Nigeria are a good team. It deserves to be number 1 in Africa. Nigeria has many experienced players,” Ngachu said in a pre-match conference.
“I know them all in details. It is a team that can hurt at any time. I know their game philosophy and even their coach who played a few times against our daughters.
“It’s really a great team, but it does not scare us. It will certainly be difficult, but we know that in the end, Cameroon will be the winner.
“We lost to Nigeria twice in 2014 but we defeated them at the All Africa Games in Congo-Brazzaville in 2015. So right now we have the psychological advantage to beat them again.”
