As the Justice Binta Nyako led federal high court, sitting in Abuja, yesterday rejected the bail application by Nnamdi Kanu and three other accused Biafran leaders, there was a mild drama at the end of proceedings. While coming out from the court premises, Nnamdi Kanu and the three accused were accustomed by cheering crowd, and Biafra supporters.
The entire court premises where filled with journalist from different locations, among them included family writers journalist, Biafra journalist , IgbereTV reporters and some international media observers.
However, there was dramatic twist when Nnamdi kanu and the three other accused approached the cheering crowd, immediately one of the accused, Benjamin Mmadu, began to lecture the crowd, telling them on the need why Biafra must come, he equally reaffirms their support for Biafra and promises never to quit the struggle. He ended with the slogan, Biafra or Death.
While the speech was ongoing, a prison warder who look so fierce and unhappy the way the accused was addressing the crowd took the law into his own hands by pushing down a Family writers journalist, Ibe Gift Amarachi. But the journalist displayed high level professionalism. Instead of reacting or fighting back she swiftly ordered the outlawed prison warder to show her where it is written in Nigeria constitution that an open trial should be barred from media coverage?? Having said so, some policemen who saw what transpire immediately begged the journalist not to press charges on the prison warder whom by now looked so embarrassed.
Meanwhile, the federal high court sitting adjourned the court proceedings till december13 to decide on the secret trial of Nnamdi Kanu and others.
