The Super Falcons of Nigeria booked their place in the semi-finals of this year’s Africa Women’s Cup of Nations in Cameroon following their 4-0 win against Kenya in Group B on Saturday.
Goals from Ngozi Okobi, Faith Ikidi, Asisat Oshoala (her fifth of the tournament) and substitute Desire Oparanozie secured the comfortable win for the reigning AWCON champions.
It was the Falcons’ second win of the tournament after initially beating Mali 6-0 before drawing 1-1 with Ghana in their second game.
They finish top in Group B on seven points and will face South Africa in the semi-final on Tuesday.
Ghana’s Black Queens also confirmed their place in the semi-final thanks to a 3-1 win against Mali in Group B’s other game on Saturday.
The Black Queens had seven points but ended second behind the Falcons on inferior goals difference and will face hosts Cameroon also on Tuesday, for a place in the final.
