Ahead of the Local Government election in Enugu State, which comes up in few hours time, the Police have announced that there would be no movement with effect from 8 a.m. on Saturday till 4 p.m.
In a statement made available to DAILY POST, the spokesman of the Enugu Police Command, SP Ebere Amaraizu stated that “ahead of the local Government chairmanship/councilorship elections slated to take place on 4th November,2017 in Enugu state, the state command of the Nigeria Police Force is advising members of the public to adhere to the movement restriction order between 8am to 4pm.
“The command further wishes to inform members of the public that its operatives have been mobilized to arrest and prosecute those that will attempt to violate or violate the movement restriction order.
“Those that will be exempted from the movement restriction order within these stipulated time of 8am to 4pm are those performing essential duties. Members of the public are enjoined to be law abiding.”
In an earlier statement, Amaraizu had stated that the command had an interactive forum with ENSIEC, party leaders, candidates, stakeholders, as well as officers and men of various security agencies, where issues relating to non-violent elections were discussed.
“The command, however, warn in strong term that any individual or group of persons that goes contrary to the provisions of the electoral act will be made to face the full weight of the law.
