Tension as hit-and-run vehicle knocks 28 year-old man to death in Delta

Tragedy struck yesterday in Delta as a hit-and-run vehicle knocked down a man simply identified as Efe along the Agbarho/Ughelli Express Road in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, DAILY POST can report.

DAILY POST gathered that the twenty-eight-year old man was ridding a motorcycle on one way of the road when the vehicle which was on high speed suddenly knocked down the deceased coming from Uvwiama Community and zoomed off.

 

Our reporter gathered that youths from Uvwiama community attempted to destroy houses and other properties belonging to their own indigenes claiming witch killed their kinsman who many believed was a cultist.

The community Vigilante were also attacked by the youths who shot sporadically into the air when they went to make peace in the area.

DAILY POST learnt that the vigilante scampered for safety when the situation became too much for them to bear.

An eyewitness who craved anonymity stated that,” The youths started burning houses yesterday evening after the accident in the morning. They are still making trouble till this afternoon.”

 

Contacted, the Delta State Acting Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Andrew Aniamaka said,” I’m not aware of the development but if it is happening now, let me call the DPO and then we speak on it later.”
