Court Grants Bail to Man in Viral Aba Assault Case

A Magistrate Court sitting in Umuahia has granted bail to 37-year-old Agwu Ukpo, who is facing charges of attempted murder, indecent assault and assault in connection with a viral incident that occurred in Aba.

Ukpo pleaded not guilty to all the charges when he was arraigned before the court. The matter was heard in chambers before the court admitted him to bail.

According to the state counsel, one of the bail conditions requires the defendant to produce either the traditional ruler or the President-General of his community as a surety.

The case was subsequently adjourned to August 19, 2026, for further proceedings.

All Facts Newspaper had earlier reported Ukpo’s arrest by the Abia State Police Command following the circulation of the viral video that sparked widespread public outrage.
