Two suspected bag snatchers were apprehended on Tuesday following an alleged robbery incident at the busy MCC Junction in Aba, Abia State.
According to a Facebook post by user Mc Aboki Nasuigbo, the suspects, who were reportedly riding a commercial motorcycle, allegedly snatched a woman’s handbag near the First Bank area of MCC Junction before attempting to flee.

The escape, however, was short-lived as the motorcycle reportedly collided with a moving tricycle (Keke), causing the suspects to fall. They were subsequently apprehended by residents before officers of the Nigeria Police intervened and rescued them from possible mob action.
The police are yet to issue an official statement confirming the incident or providing details on the identities of the suspects, the victim, or any items recovered.
Reacting to the incident, the Facebook user argued that the development underscores the rationale behind the Abia State Government’s restriction on commercial motorcycle operations along major roads.
According to the post, the government’s policy is intended to enhance public safety and security rather than inconvenience residents.
The Abia State Government has consistently maintained that the restriction of commercial motorcycles in designated areas is aimed at protecting lives and property, improving public order, and addressing security concerns across the state.
Authorities have continued to urge residents to support the policy while encouraging anyone with useful information on criminal activities to report such cases to relevant security agencies.
