A 33-year-old man, Ifechukwu Okechukwu, has been arrested by the Anambra State Police Command for the alleged murder of his 23-year-old girlfriend and the secret burial of her body in Nkpor, Anambra State.
The suspect was taken into custody following a trending video showing the exhumation of the victim’s corpse in Nkpor, which drew widespread public attention. Police acted on credible information provided by concerned members of the public.

Announcing the arrest in a press statement on Monday, the Command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said the suspect is being investigated for the alleged killing and concealment of the young woman’s body.
“The first suspect in custody, Ifechukwu Okechukwu ‘M’, aged 33 years, is being investigated for the alleged murder and secret burial of his 23-year-old girlfriend,” the statement read.
Ikenga added that the case was reported following credible intelligence from the public, prompting the swift arrest of the suspect. Operatives of the State Criminal Investigation Department have taken over the matter and have commenced a detailed investigation to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
The Anambra State Police Command commended residents for their vigilance and timely provision of information, which aided the arrest. The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, assured the public that the command remains committed to ensuring justice is served.
