Sixteen members of the House of Representatives have defected from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), in a move that could reshape alliances in the lower chamber.
The defections were formally announced during plenary after a letter conveying the decision of the members was read on the floor of the House by Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu, who presided over the session.

Among those who defected were the Deputy Minority Whip George Ozodinobi from Anambra State, Kamilu Ado from Kano State, and Jesse Okey-Joe representing from Lagos State.
