Court Remands Blogger ‘Justice Crack’ Over Alleged Fake News Against Nigerian Army

The Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the remand of blogger and social media personality Chidiebere Mark, widely known as Justice Crack, in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS).

The order was issued by Justice Joyce Abdulmalik this Monday following Mark’s arraignment on a three-count charge related to alleged cybercrime and the publication of false information.

According to the DSS, the defendant posted a viral video on his X handle (@JusticeCrack) claiming that soldiers in the Nigerian Army are poorly fed, an allegation the prosecution maintains was intended to tarnish the Army’s reputation and breach public peace.

Although the defendant pleaded not guilty to all charges, the court refused an oral bail application presented by his lawyer, Marshall Abubakar, insisting that a formal request must be filed.

Justice Abdulmalik subsequently adjourned the matter until May 25, 2026, for the commencement of trial, ordering that Mark remains in DSS custody until that date.
