A group of youths in Oworonshoki has threatened to embark on a protest at the Third Mainland Bridge on Monday over the recent demolition of structures in the waterside Lagos community.
“Please for those that have planned to work tomorrow morning (Monday 27th October, 2025) be informed that you should plan your route inward island and inward mainland because Oworonshoki youths are planning to lockdown the THIRD MAINLAND BRIDGE in respect to the protest against the Demolition going on In Oworonshoki community. Please be guided,” the notice from the group reads.

Over the weekend, videos surfaced on social media showing residents of Precious Seed community in Oworonshoki scampering for safety after teargas canisters were shot by security operatives attached to officials of the Lagos government.
Reacting to the planned protest, the police command in Lagos assured commuters that officers have been deployed to prevent any form of obstruction or breach of the peace.
In a statement, Abimbola Adebisi, Lagos police spokesperson, asked residents to proceed with their lawful activities without fear.
