Nigerian Afrobeats singer, Yemi Alade has opened up about a personal mental health struggle, revealing that lying about her age for several years once pushed her into depression.
Speaking in a recent interview with media personality, Chude Jideonwo, where she disclosed that she spent three years claiming to be 22, only to later realise she was already 25.

“There was a time someone asked me how old I was, and for about three years I kept saying 22. Then one day I calculated it and realised I was already 25,” she said.”
The revelation left her mentally unsettled, leading to a brief period of depression as she struggled to process the reality of her actual age.
“I was depressed for a few days because my mind couldn’t process it. It was mental. For three years I didn’t know my age,” she added.
The “Knack Am” crooner noted that the experience taught her an important lesson about self-awareness and the mental toll of self-deception.
