An Ebonyi-born Award winning Author, Mazi Ogbonnaya Okoro has bagged an Award of Global Impact in Igbo Studies” from the Department of Languages and Linguistics, Ebonyi State University years after he wrote a physics text book in Igbo language.
The award was conferred on him during the 3rd Linguistics International Interdisciplinary Hybrid Conference on Thursday, 9th October, 2025.
Okoro, who hails from Umuka Okposi in Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State was represented at the event by Wisdom Nwedene.
Acknowledging the award in a post on his social media page, he wrote; “I have received an “Award of Global Impact in Igbo Studies” from the Department of Languages and Linguistics, Ebonyi State University.
“I greatly appreciate this. I thank the scholars in the Department of Languages and Linguistics, and the institution for this recognition. Ụnụ emeela.
“Thank you Wisdom Nwedene for representing me to collect the award.
“Something like this is an encouragement to do more.”
Okoro is a young author of over 58 books, the founder of Igboticnet, a platform that digitalizes Igbo books and academic materials, making them accessible to a global audience.
During the event and award presentation, Okoro was unavoidable absent as he’s in the USA for his programme.
On Thursday, the state university recognized his accomplishments and awarded him for his global impact in Igbo language as he continues to do exploit.
