An Ebonyi-born ambitious young lady, Sharon Ijuolachi Akpa, CEO of Adaebonyi School of Leather Works, has disclosed plans to embark on a one-week open-space shoe-making program to encourage skills acquisition in the state.
Announcing the “Shoe-a-thon” that is to commence on the 24th of September to the 30th of September, 2025, Akpa said her goal is to share her story and let others in on her journey in shoe making.
She added, also, that the move is aimed at training young Ebonyians in shoe making for free within the one-week adventure.
She stated: “What if I tell you that you can learn the basics of shoemaking in just one week for free!!! This is my own way of showing you how far you can go as a skilled professional; it’s my own way of sharing my journey with others and inspiring you to become self-reliant.”
Akpa added that all shoes produced during her project would be shared with schools for free.
”To boost self-reliance and skill acquisition,” Akpa said the Shoe-a-thon project is her way of giving back to society.
Meanwhile, a few hours after announcing the project, a well-meaning Ebonyian, according to Akpa, supported the move with ₦200,000, as more Ebonyians at home and abroad also declared their support and solidarity.
On the day of the project, Akpa revealed that anyone could attend, irrespective of age, stature, or status.
