Protest has rocked Ghana as marketers at the circle market Accra on Thursday, took to the streets to protest over what they tagged “selling of our land”.
In a video of the ongoing protest sent by our correspondent in Ghana, the marketers and businessmen were dressed in red signifying danger and bearing placards which strongly objected the possession of their land by an alleged Chinese man.
According to the report gathered by NEWSMAXNG, the market leaders, on Thursday, said the protest was necessary as a successful eviction would render over 3,000 marketers jobless.
The report states that the Circle Arena Market in Ghana was being priced and almost been bought over by a private company allegedly owned by a Chinese national, a development which the citizens have decried stating that it would affect their livelihood.
The protesters are therefore, slamming the government for allowing such development when they could easily improve their land rather than sell it.
One of the placards bore; “Stomach leaders stop taking bribes, illegal building no permit by Chinese man.
The protesters are demanding the government to stop selling the country to foreigners as they maintain that the marketers in Circle Arena must not be evicted from their source of livelihood.
