The Ebonyi State commissioner for ICT, Hon. Tochukwu Uzor Okorie has lauded the Executive Chairman of Ikwo,Barr Sunday Nwankwo. He made this known during the flag off, of a 3-month ICT training at Onuebonyi Echara, the Council Headquarters of Ikwo Local Government Area,on Monday.
The Commissioner described the training as one of the initiatives that will help alleviate crime and other social vices in the society. He therefore charged the beneficiaries to take the training seriously and utilize it for self-building, emphasizing that modern society is inextricably linked to ICT.
Earlier, the Executive Chairman of Ikwo Local Government Area, Barr Sunday Nwankwo, in his remarks thanked the Governor of Ebonyi State,His Excellency,Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for his passion in solving the needs of Ebonyians .He said Ikwo Local Government Area as one of the third tiers of government will always amplify the Governor’s People’s Charter of needs at the grassroot level.
The chairman maintained that his administration is proactively in addressing the needs of Ikwo youths and emphasized; that the training will be conducted in batches until the end of his tenure, aiming to provide sustainable ICT training and empowerment for Ikwo youth.
“I welcome you all to this important and sustainable ICT training.Our aim is to empower Ikwo Noyo youths in a sustainable manner.
“In the next three months following this training, we will integrate them into society.The packages they offer are designed to provide a solid foundation for life, as the present world is driven by ICT.
“This initiative serves as our empowerment program for Ikwo Noyo youths. Upon completion of the three-month program, we will convene a closing session and wish you continued success.
“This program will run in batches until my tenure expires. I enjoin you to treat it with the seriousness it warrants. The people’s charter of needs is all about catering to the needs of the people as best as we can. The Governor is highly passionate about solving the needs of Ebonyians and we at the local government level will step it down to the grassroot”.
Beneficiaries, representing various communities in Ikwo, expressed gratitude to Ikwo Local Government Chairman ,Barr Sunday Nwankwo for the kind gesture.
The first batch of the ICT training is expected to last for three months, covering ;Data Analysis, Software development and digital marketing and exposing the Beneficiaries to Hands-on projects, mentorship and certification.
