Sani Abacha Stadium Fails Club Licensing Test

The Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) has flagged the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano, home of Kano Pillars and Barau FC, for failing to meet minimum club licensing infrastructure standards.

According to the league organizers, several key issues were identified during inspections, including:
• Poorly maintained pitch, deemed below broadcast standards
• Dressing rooms not conducive for players and officials
• Substandard technical benches
• Lack of standard floodlight facilities

Both Kano-based clubs have been directed to carry out urgent upgrades to the stadium facilities or risk being forced to play their matches at an alternative ground.

The NPFL stressed that maintaining quality infrastructure is crucial for player safety, fair competition, and the overall growth of the league.
