A Lagos-based businessman who hails from Ebonyi State, Jeremiah Obaji Nworu, is all set to embark on a remarkable “Trek-a-thon” journey from Lagos to his hometown in Ebonyi State.
Nworu disclosed that the purpose of this endeavor is to express his profound gratitude to the state governor, Francis Nwifuru, for the outstanding work he has accomplished in the state.
He cited the restoration of peace in Effium, a community that has been warring for years, as a testament to how effective the governor is in office.
He stated that embarking on this trek is the least he can do to appreciate the governor’s efforts. Notably, from Lagos to Abakaliki is 633km and the journey is to commence on Friday, 22nd August, 2025.
Additionally, Nworu highlighted the ongoing construction of the Vanco flyover, which he described as potentially one of the best in the country.
Nworu disclosed that Effium, the community that has benefited from the governor’s peace initiatives, is his hometown.
He further emphasized that the achievements of Governor Nwifuru in his short time in office is far more than those of his predecessors.
He stated; “I Will Be Trekking From Lagos State To Ebonyi State To Thank Governor Nwifuru For Restoring Peace In Effium And The Ongoing Gigantic Flyover Which Is Going To Be Best In Nigeria.
“I have thought of the best way to Honour a man who brought PEACE to my community, a man who so loved justice, a man who addressed the long injustice against the defunct Effium community which was before now the biggest autonomous community in Nigeria.
“But Nwifuru came and created 4 new autonomous communities in Ebonyi State.Something the past regimes could not do.
“I had thought of the best way to appreciate this man and I came to this beautiful conclusion that if prophet Ebuka Obi could lay on a stone for the sake of his members, then trekking from Lagos to Abakaliki won’t be too much for a man who changed my IDP status to a new autonomous community.
” I am also trekking In Honour Of FON For His Numerous Ongoing Gigantic Projects In Ebonyi State Including Vanco Flyover Which Is Going To Be The Best In Nigeria”.
