A prominent Igbo social club, De Imperial Philanthropic Family has raised an impressive N400 million for charity in just 30 minutes.
The funds, which exceeded their initial plan of N50 million, will be used to support underprivileged patients across various healthcare facilities in Anambra and other parts of the Southeast.
The money was raised during their Annual General Meeting at Acropolis in Okija, Anambra State, on Saturday.
As part of the activities lined up for the AGM, the group paid visit to the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital in Nnewi, where they settled outstanding medical bills for numerous patients.
The intervention brought smiles to the faces of patients and their families, who expressed gratitude and offered prayers for the group’s leadership.
At the event, the group also endorsed Chief Ebuka Onunkwo as their preferred candidate for the upcoming Anambra South senatorial bye-election.
Speaking at the event, President, De Imperial Philanthropic Family, High Chief Dr. Sir Darlington Nwabunike, praised Onunkwo’s achievements in business, manufacturing, and human capital development, describing him as a visionary leader who can drive transformative change in Anambra South.
Nwabunike urged the people of Anambra South to support Onunkwo in the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) primaries and the main election, highlighting his commitment to the zone’s progress.
The event was attended by prominent members, including Chief Abraham Ikechukwu Otti, High Chief Kenneth Ifekudu, Chief Ebere Akamnonu, Chief Solex Obiudo, Barrister Igwilo SAN, and Mkpuruobi Abatete, among others.
The group is known for its various welfare schemes in Igboland including a 500 million naira Scholarship.
