The Abam bloc of the All Progressives Congress (APC) stands united in condemning the recent smear campaign orchestrated by a self-styled “Coalition for Equity and Justice in Abia North Senate.” Let it be known: this is not a movement rooted in principle, it is a desperate ploy by political opportunists who have long failed the people and now seek relevance through slander.
We call out, without hesitation, the likes of Hon. Chief Chiebere Uwagwu Kalu and Hon. Chief Sir Chima Agbaeze, men whose time in public office yielded little more than photo ops and token gestures. Their sudden moral awakening is not driven by love for Abia North, but by a hunger for power and access. Their voices were silent when mediocrity reigned. Now, they shout not for justice, but for position.
Let’s be clear: Senator Orji Uzor Kalu (OUK) is not breaking precedent by seeking a third term. The late Senator Uche Chukwumerije, a revered son of Abia North, served three terms with dignity. There was no outcry then. So why now? Because OUK’s legacy unsettles those who have none. Because his over 50 constituency projects across the five LGAs expose the emptiness of their own records. Because real impact threatens the politics of handouts and hollow promises.
We reject the weaponization of blackmail as a political tool. We reject the attempt to rewrite history and discredit a man whose contributions to Abia North are visible, measurable, and enduring. This is not about one man’s ambition, it is about the right of the people to choose their representative without manipulation or deceit.
To those who believe they can hijack the narrative with press conferences and paid statements: Abam is watching. Abia North is watching. And come 2027, the people, not political jobbers, will decide.
We stand with OUK. We stand with legacy. And we will not be silent.
