Man Who Stole Generator Arrested After Returning To Same Restaurant To Eat

A man who stole a generator worth ₦1 million from a popular gym-restaurant in Agu Awka got the shock of his life when he was arrested mid-meal—after returning to the same spot days later to eat and chill.

According to viral posts shared by @mr_cjayerus on X (formerly Twitter), the man initially visited the establishment—Candles Gym & Restaurant—pretending to be interested in a fitness membership.

But what he was really working on? A perfect crime.
🕵🏽‍♂️ The Heist: “Came, Scouted, Stole”

The suspect allegedly came in early in the morning, looked around under the guise of gym inquiries, and left without suspicion. Hours later, he returned with accomplices and a Keke (commercial tricycle), and together, they lifted the generator and vanished.

What he didn’t know was that the gym had full CCTV coverage, and his face was clearly captured while executing the operation.
🍲 The Blunder: “Came Back to Enjoy Life”

Days later, with boldness only seen in Nollywood scripts, the same man returned to the restaurant, sat down comfortably, and ordered a meal—unaware that his face was already circulating.

As he chewed away in peace, police arrived, surrounded him, and arrested him on the spot, while stunned staff and diners looked on.
👀 Reactions from Social Media

Nigerians didn’t hold back on X, as the story went viral:

@Goldenfog327823: “How big was the gen that 1 man was able to carry it off with Keke? ₦1milla gen what!?”

@Glasshouse9535: “No be everybody you go steal from go scot-free.”

@enyola: “He came to check if they bought a new generator for him… the old one is making too much noise.”

@ObumNwaAwka: “It’s called Remote ogwu. With the person’s picture and small instruments, it’s easy to remote him.”

@ola_petr: “They should at least allow him to pay first for what he ordered before arresting him.”

🧠 Moral of the Story?

“You can steal a gen, but you can’t steal peace of mind—especially not when you go back to enjoy suya where you committed the crime.”
