Biafra Day: Empty Streets In Umuahia As Residents Observe Sit-At-Home Order

Umuahia, the capital city of Abia State, wore a gloomy look on Friday as residents stayed indoors in honour of fallen Biafra heroes

The state capital had an entirely different outlook from its usual daily bustling and hustling, with streets deserted in total concession to the sit-at-home order by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Markets and motor parks also shut down, while street shops refused to open for business. Other affected daily activities are banks, as customers make do with the cash at their disposal, while both private and public schools were not opened to customers.

As usual, some youths opted to play football on an empty street, while some residents sat at the entrance of their premises, discussing the latest developments in the country.

No incident of any clash between IPOB and security forces was reported at the time of filing this report, while no security agents were spotted on the streets
