Nineteen passengers who were kidnapped along the Bille-Bonny waterways in Rivers State have been rescued.
The victims, who had been held captive for 21 days, were freed on Monday during a rescue operation carried out by the Royal Fouche Security Services, popularly known as the Amama Soldiers.
The security outfit is owned by the Amanyanabo of the Source, Elem Kalabari, His Royal Majesty Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo-Asari (Dabaye Amakiri I).
Following the successful rescue, the Amanyanabo of Torusarama Piri, Da Amakiri Tubo, addressed the press, commending the operation and emphasizing the need for stronger security measures along the region’s waterways.
Out of the 20 abducted passengers, 19 were rescued alive. The 20th victim, a military officer identified as Lance Corporal Salihu Ibrahim, was not found.
He had reportedly been taken away earlier by the kidnappers to an unknown location and remains missing.
