The Abia State Government has officially announced the postponement of the much-anticipated commissioning of the Port Harcourt Road project in Aba.
Making the announcement during a media briefing, the State Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, confirmed that the exercise has been put on hold due to scheduling conflicts.
“I am sure some of you may have been hearing about it through the grapevine, so this is like a formal announcement that that exercise has been put off,” Prince Kanu stated.
He explained that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who was initially expected to flag off the project, had to reschedule due to other national engagements.
“I recall that Mr. President, Senator Ahmed Bola Tinubu was to be on hand to flag off that project, but due to his schedule at this time, he elected to come to the state sometime in early June to flag off the project,” he said.
The Commissioner did not provide a specific date but assured that the President’s visit has been rescheduled to early June, when the commissioning is now expected to take place.
The Port Harcourt Road project is one of the signature infrastructure undertakings of the Governor Alex Otti-led administration, aimed at revitalizing Aba’s economy and improving access within the commercial city.
