A flurry of defections have taken place at the House of Representatives in Abuja. Following the decampment of Governor Oborevwori Sheriff and his predecessor, Arthur Okowa as well as thousands of their followers, their representatives at the Green chamber have followed suit.
With these defections, all 3 Senators as well as 9/10 House of Reps members are members of the APC (only Benedict Etanabene is still in the opposition Labour Party).
Citing division in the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, the following members announced their defection on the floor of the House….
1. Victor Onyemaechi Nwokolo (Ika North East/Ika South Federal Constituency) – Fourth termer
2. Nicholas Ebomo Mutu (Bomadi/Patani Federal Constituency) – longest serving Reps member (1999-2027)
3. Nnamdi Ezechi (Ukwuani/Ndokwa East/Ndokwa West Federal Constituency) – First termer
4. Julius Gbabojor Pondi (Burutu Federal Constituency) – Third termer
5. Jonathan Ajiroghene Ukodhiko (Isoko North/Isoko South Federal Constituency) – First termer
6. Thomas Ereyitomi (Warri South,/Warri West/Warri North Federal Constituency) – First termer
Enugu Reps members: Dennis Agbo and Chidi Obetta who left the Labour Party for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) last week made formal their defections on the floor of the House today.
They cited the division with the National leadership of the Labour Party and the very good performance of the Governor as reasons for their defection.
