The Life and Legacy of Elder Chinyere Margaret Ukeagu

Late Elder Chinyere Margaret Ukeagu, fondly known as “Mama CONNAK”, lived a life full of grace, purpose, and impact. Born on April 25, 1948, she was a woman of deep Christian faith, known for her kindness, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to family and community. She passed on peacefully on March 3, 2025, at the age of 76, leaving behind a legacy of love, leadership, and service.

She was the proud mother of Dr. Ken Ukeagu, a respected National Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). As a mother, mentor, and matriarch, Elder Chinyere instilled strong values of discipline, integrity, and humility in her children and everyone around her. Her dedication to nurturing lives extended beyond her immediate family, touching the hearts of many across the nation.

Elder Chinyere was deeply committed to community development and philanthropy. Through her support and involvement with the CONNAK Foundation, she played a key role in transforming lives and empowering underprivileged individuals. Her generosity, hospitality, and tireless support for humanitarian causes earned her respect and admiration throughout Abia State and beyond.

In honour of her remarkable life, a series of burial events has been organized across different cities. Activities will begin in Port Harcourt on May 23, 2025, through Abuja, and concluded with her final homecoming in Umuahia, Abia State. The grand burial ceremony will take place in June 7, 2025, at the Umuahia Township Stadium, where family, friends, dignitaries, and well-wishers will gather to pay their final respects.

Elder Chinyere Ukeagu’s life remains a shining example of what it means to live selflessly and faithfully. Her legacy of compassion, leadership, and community service continues to live on through her children, grandchildren, and all who were blessed to know her. She will always be remembered as a woman who loved deeply, served humbly, and inspired greatly.
