Pascal Dozie, Founder of Diamond Bank Is Dead

Pascal Gabriel Dozie, the esteemed Nigerian entrepreneur and founder of Diamond Bank, has d+ed at the age of 85, a day to his 86th birthday.

Born on April 9, 1939, in Egbu, Owerri, Imo State, Dozie was a pivotal figure in Nigeria’s financial sector. He earned a degree in Economics from the London School of Economics and a master’s in Administrative Science from City University in London.

In 1991, Dozie founded Diamond Bank, which became renowned for its innovative approach to banking in Nigeria.

He served as the bank’s CEO until 2006, when he handed over leadership to his son, Uzoma Dozie. Beyond his contributions to banking, Dozie was the chairman of Pan-Atlantic University and held significant roles in various organizations, including serving as a former chairman of MTN Nigeria.

Dozie was honored with the National Award of the Order of the Niger (OON) and the Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) for his contributions to the Nigerian economy. He is survived by his wife, Chinyere Dozie, and their five children.
