The governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo has assured that the killers of 16 hunters along Uromi, Esan North East Local Government Area of the state would be made to face justice.
Okpebholo gave the assurance during his visit to Uromi where 16 hunters travelling from Elele, Rivers State to Kano for the Eid celebration were killed.

It was gathered that some local vigilantes on a stop and search routine had found locally made guns on the travellers, raising suspicion that they might be kidnappers.
This spiked anger among members of the community leading to an attack on the traveling hunters who were lynched and their vehicle burnt in the process.
In a statement issued by Fred Itua, the spokesperson for the governor, Okpebholo visited the town to assess the situation.
Itua said the governor who condemned the action of the vigilante members promised justice for the victims.
According to Itua, the governor said there is no justifiable excuse for the vigilante members or any individual to take laws into their hands.
The Governor directed the State Police Command and other security agencies to conduct thorough and speedy investigations into the matter and bring those found culpable to book. He also charged the community to work with the security agencies to fish out the culprits.
”Governor Okpebholo also commended community leaders, especially the leadership of the Arewa community in the area, for deescalating tensions and handling the situation with restrain,” Itua said.
