Gov. Fubara Breaks Silence Over His Suspension By Tinubu

Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has called on residents to remain peaceful and law-abiding following the declaration of a state of emergency by President Bola Tinubu.

In a statewide address on Tuesday in Port Harcourt, Governor Fubara reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to upholding constitutional order and protecting the interests of the people despite the ongoing political crisis.

“Since assuming office, we have remained guided by our constitutional oath and a deep sense of duty.

“Our priority has always been the protection of lives and property and the continuous progress of our state,” Fubara stated.

The governor said his administration had adhered to the rule of law even amidst the political impasse.

He cited the swift implementation of peace agreements, including reinstating commissioners who had previously resigned, as a demonstration of good faith and commitment to stability.

Fubara also said his administration’s complied with a Supreme Court ruling, noting that every effort was made to restore normalcy in the state.

“These steps were not taken for personal gain but to foster peace, unity, and stability in Rivers State,” he added.

However, he accused members of the Rivers State House of Assembly of frustrating efforts towards reconciliation, making genuine peace and governance increasingly difficult.

Despite the political tensions, he assured the people that his government had continued to function effectively, ensuring salaries were paid and developmental projects progressed.

“Rivers State remains safe, secure, and peaceful under our watch. We are a resilient people, and we will face this situation with wisdom, patience, and unwavering faith in the democratic process,” he reassured.
