Onanuga said the cheque presentation was aimed at supporting the president with his initiative which aims to alleviate the challenges faced by Nigeria’s vulnerable population.

He wrote, “Iftar with a difference.

“Leaders of the House of Representatives made Monday’s Iftar, the breaking of fast, a memorable occasion by presenting President Bola Tinubu with a substantial cheque of N705 million naira to support his programme for Nigeria’s vulnerable population.”

He added that the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas explained that the funds were realised through donations made by members from their salaries.

He said, “According to House Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, this donation was made possible through members contributing 50 per cent of their salaries since July 2024.

“Vice President Kashim Shettima and Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila also attended the Iftar,” Onanuga noted.
