Confusion As Police Inspector Shoots Self To Death

Ajele Oloyede, an inspector of the Nigeria Police Force has taken his life by shooting himself to death in the Igbesa area of Ogun State.

It was gathered that the police officer shot himself at a ceramics company in Igbesa on Thursday, March 13.

Attached to the company, the late officer was said to have been discovered by an officer from the Force Headquarters Annex, Lagos, Tolorunloju Stephen in the pool of his blood.

Ogun State Command spokesperson, Omolala Oduntola said Stephen who had returned from Ikeja at about 1.20 pm found Oloyede resting his head on the table.

He went ahead to inquire from the inspector if he was well which he responded in the affirmative and they went ahead to exchange greetings.

Oduntola said Stephen left for the restroom after placing his bag and pistol on the table only to hear a gunshot moments later.

He rushed back to find the inspector lying in his pool of blood

Odutola said, “With the help of private security personnel, the wounded officer was immediately taken to the Ota General Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead by the doctor on duty.

“Police officers visited the scene, and the deceased’s pistol was recovered. His body has been deposited at the Ota General Hospital for autopsy, while we have begun notifying his family,” Oduntial added.

She further added that the case would be subsequently transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation on the matter.
