Gov Fubara Invites Pro-Wike Lawmakers For Crucial Meeting

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has invited the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Martin Amaewhule, and other lawmakers for a meeting aimed at addressing key legislative and governance matters.

The meeting is scheduled to take place on Monday, March 10, 2025, at 10 a.m. at the Governor’s Office, Government House, Port Harcourt.

The invitation was disclosed in a letter dated March 7, 2025, and signed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Tammy Danagogo.

According to the letter, the meeting will focus on critical issues, including
provision of a befitting place for the Assembly to hold sittings and payment of outstanding remuneration and allowances for lawmakers.

Others are the presentation of the state budget and other legislative matters and discussions on charting a new way forward for Rivers State.

Governor Fubara’s invitation comes amid political tensions in the state, and the meeting is seen as a move to foster dialogue and cooperation between the executive and legislative arms of government.

The SSG expressed hope for the Speaker and lawmakers’ attendance, reiterating the need to “chart the way forward in the interest of the good people of Rivers State.”
