JUST IN!!! Immortalise Pa Edwin Clark, Senate Tells FG

Lawmakers of the Nigerian Senate on Wednesday, February 19, asked the Federal Government to immortalise the late leader of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF).

The lawmakers made the appeal to the government during the plenary at the National Assembly complex.

They urged the Federal Government of Nigeria to name a national monument after the late former federal commissioner for Information.

Recall that Clark’s family announced that the PANDEF leader died in Abuja on February 17, at the age of 97.

However, the Senate resolved to send delegates to visit the family for condolence and to attend his funeral.

At the plenary, the Senate observed a one-minute silent in honour of the late Clark.

In a resolution adopted after the motion sponsored by Joel-Onowakpo Thomas (APC-Delta South) and 16 others, the Senate acknowledged Clark’s relentless advocacy for the rights of minorities.

According to Thomas, the late PANDEF leader made remarkable contributions to the evolution of Nigerian politics.

“Pa Edwin Clark was a nationalist, a renowned lawyer, a seasoned administrator, a philanthropist, and an astute advocate for the Niger Delta region,” Thomas said.

Also speaking, the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio acknowledged Clark’s efforts in uniting different regions of the country.
