There is growing concern over the whereabouts of Comrade Igboayaka Igboayaka, the President of the Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC), who was reportedly abducted by gunmen in Owerri, the Imo State capital.
Eyewitnesses say the incident occurred on Saturday around 7 p.m. at Works Layout, where gunmen dressed in black and driving a Sienna and a Lexus SUV intercepted and forcefully took Igboayaka away in a dramatic manner.
Since his disappearance, efforts by his family, friends, and members of the Ohanaeze Youth Council to reach him via his mobile phones have been unsuccessful, heightening fears about his safety.
Blueprint reports that speculation is rife that his abduction may be linked to security operatives, possibly due to his vocal criticism of the government.
However, the Imo State Police Command is yet to confirm or deny involvement in his arrest. The command’s spokesperson, DSP Henry Okoye, has not issued any statement on the matter.
