The government of Bauchi State has established a 40-member advisory committee focused on fostering data-driven and informed government policies.

At the inauguration on Thursday, the Secretary to the State Government, Aminu Hammayo, stated that the committee, functioning under the State Bureau of Statistics, will assess the statistical programs of different agencies each year. The aim is to improve collaboration, minimize effort redundancy, and create a unified state statistics program.

Hammayo additionally encouraged the committee to create strategies that guarantee consistent standards and methods among agencies, emphasizing the enhancement of the quality, comparability, and promptness of their statistical results.

The importance of statistics in governance is immense. β€œIt serves as the basis for our planning activities and the standard against which we evaluate advancement,” he remarked. β€œWe need to guarantee that statistical integrity is maintained and that the data is utilized to inform policies that meet the needs and ambitions of the populace.”
