Courts in Mgbidi, Oguta and Omumma areas of Imo State, on Thursday shut down operations following the killing of a popular lawyer in the State, Chinedu Nwowu.
The lawyer, as gathered by our correspondent was said to have been double crossed and shot dead on Wednesday evening in Mgbidi, his hometown, by yet to be identified gunmen.
A source said some gun-bearing men forcefully blocked the victim while driving and shot him dead.
The development had caused panic in the state as no reason had been disclosed for his killing.
Following the tragic development, the Orlu Branch of the Nigeria Bar Association, where the deceased belonged to, had announced that no court session would go on in Mgbidi, Oguta and Omumma axis of the state following the tragedic incident.
The branch announced an emergency meeting of the members following the killing of the lawyer.
A press release issued by Chukwuemeka Okoro, on behalf of the branch notified that the emergency meeting will hold at the High Court in Mgbidi
