The 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party in Nigeria, Peter Obi has congratulated President Donald Trump on his inauguration on Monday, January 20.
The former Anambra state governor said Trumpโs victory as the 47th President of the United States of America is a testament of the resilience of democracy and the enduring will of the American people.
Obi said, โIt is my hope that your presidency will be marked by policies that foster global stability, economic growth, and strengthened international partnerships, particularly between the United States and Africa,โ he said in a post on X.
Highlighting the responsibility that has been saddled on Trump following his win, Obi called for US presidentโs committment to unity equity and justice for sustainable growth and progress across the globe.
He said, โAs you assume this great responsibility, I urge you to champion the values of unity, equity, and justice, which are the bedrock of sustainable progress.
โThe world watches with anticipation, and we are optimistic that your leadership will usher in a new era of cooperation and mutual respect among nations.
โCongratulations once again, Mr. President, and best wishes for a successful term,โ Obi added.
