Former Anambra State governor and presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 general elections, Peter Obi, has debunked rumours that his party is in talks with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and the New Nigeria People’s Party, (NNPP), to form a mega party ahead of the 2027 elections.
Obi who disclosed this at a press conference in Abuja on Thursday morning, declared that thus far, there was no such merger talks with the PDP, NNPP, or any other party.
Obi stated that despite insinuations and widespread rumors of merger talks, there are no established agreement between the LP and other opposition parties.
Obi who also spoke on the state of the nation, accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), of mismanaging and squandering the country’s resources and called on all lovers of Nigeria in the political space to come together in 2027 and defeat the party.
According to him, the level of corruption in Nigeria remained high and so is the cost of governance which has led to an astronomical increase in public debt under the current administration of President Bola Tinubu of the APC.
According to the LP stalwart, the level of corruption in Nigeria remained high, just as cost of governance has led to an astronomical increase in public debt under the current administration of President Bola Tinubu.
Obi further decried the insecurity in the country, describing it as an unfortunate situation where Nigerians die needlessly due to banditry, terrorism, and kidnapping-for-ransom
