Jigawa State Government said it has uncovered 6,348 ghost workers in its Statewide Staff Audit Biometric Data Capture and Validation Exercise.
State Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sports and Culture, Hon. Sagir Musa disclosed this while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the state Executive Council meeting chaired by Governor Umar Namadi on Monday.
The commissioner said the state was able to save N314,657,342.06 per month and N3,775,888,809.72 per annum.
DAILY POST reported that the Jigawa State Government directed the enrollment of staff into the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Management System (IPPMS).
It said the aim was not to witch-hunt any worker but sanitizing the system and facilitate the prompt payment of salaries and other rights of workers.
Sagir said the state executive Council approved establishment of a Continuous Capture Centre (CCC) at the Office of the Head of Civil Service for the completion of the Statewide Staff Audit Biometric Data Capture and Validation Exercise
