Police Denies Police Officers' Involvement In Viral Fuel-Scooping Video

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has dismissed a viral video purportedly showing uniformed officers scooping fuel from an overturned tanker, clarifying that the individuals involved are not members of the NPF.

In a statement by Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the NPF explained that the individuals in the video were personnel from a neighboring Francophone country whose uniforms resemble those of the Nigerian police. The officers in question were speaking French, further confirming their non-affiliation with the NPF.

Adejobi condemned the spread of the misleading video, emphasizing its potential to damage the police force’s reputation. “Such actions undermine the integrity of the force and have far-reaching negative consequences for the nation,” he stated.

He reiterated the commitment of the NPF, under the Inspector-General of Police, to maintaining professionalism and ensuring public safety.

The force urged citizens to verify information before sharing to prevent misinformation and foster national unity.
